Content Creators Coalition: Senator Wyden Putting “The Retirement Security Of Elderly Artists At Risk”

The Content Creators Coalition released the following statement in reaction to Senator Ron Wyden’s so called “ACCESS to Recordings Act,” which puts the needs of the dominant tech platforms and big radio conglomerates above the retirement security of elderly artists.

“This bill is a cynical attempt to thwart consensus, bipartisan legislation that would ensure compensation for elderly artists, the CLASSICS Act. While the sponsor falsely asserts that the CLASSICS Act only serves record labels, in fact more than half of the compensation in the bill is paid directly to artists. Senator Wyden’s bill puts the retirement security of elderly artists at risk.”
